SWEEPING PANORAMAS, RUSTIC CITIES, GENEROUS PORTIONS: WELCOME TO ODENWALD!
Interested in adding a little something to your golf experience — or even to your dinner plate? Then swap your bag for a backpack and discover our beautiful region. Lush forests, unspoiled nature parks and excellent restaurants are in abdundance here. Let us help you organize a few golf-free daytrips. For an overview of what to see and what to do, more information is available from our tourism partner Tourismusgemeinschaft Odenwald.
SLOW GOINGOn the golf course, etiquette demands that players maintain a good pace. In Odenwald’s quaint cities and towns however, the going is a lot slower. Stroll through alleys replete with half-timbered houses, visit a beautiful castle or stop in at one of the region’s numerous eating and drinking establishments. |
TEST YOUR BOUNDARIESThe Limes — a term for the boundaries (usually walls) that marked the Roman occupation — once ran straight through Odenwald, even where our golf course in Glashofen sits today. Fortunately for golfers, this obstacle was cleared away centuries ago. The remaining archaelogical sites are still accessible via well-maintained hiking and bicycle paths. |
CULTURAL TREASURES AS OLD AS STONEOdenwald is home to the first Unesco World Heritage Site in Germany: the famous Messel Fossil Deposits. The area also boasts well-developed Geopark routes, knowledgeable rangers at all sites and the Felsenmeer geographic formations (literally sea of rocks), a spectacle of nature that golfers can be thankful does not belong to the region’s courses. |
